A pair of Qing dynasty, Yongzheng period famille rose dishes, each with a shaped central cartouche on a hatched silver ground featuring a robed court lady amongst traditional household items, the outer band with shaped panels of scrolling grasses and blooms on a charcoal ground.
Compare an identical dish exhibited in Marchant & Son, Chinese Export Porcelain, (London, 2015), cat. no. 11, in addition to a group of plates and four larger dishes from the collection of Lord Margadale of Islay at Fonthill House, Wiltshire and sold at Christie’s London, 31st May 1965, lot 52.
Another pair of plates is illustrated in George C. Williamson, The Book of Famille Rose (London, 1927), pl. XLVII, and another was exhibited by Yu Chunming in the Nanchang University Museum Exhibition Jing Yan (An Exhibition of Chinese Export Porcelain), 2012, cat. no. 20.
